Leonard Cohen - Flowers For Hitler, 1968 Early Print Paperback
$40
Early print paperback book titled "Flowers For Hitler" by Leonard Cohen, published in 1968 by McClelland Stewart. First edition.
Born in Montreal in 1934, Leonard Cohen studied English at McGill and published his first poetry collection, Let Us Compare Mythologies, in 1956. Already established as a writer, he turned seriously to music; his 1968 debut album included “Suzanne,” which Judy Collins had recorded the year before. “Hallelujah” appeared much later, on his 1984 album Various Positions.
Flowers for Hitler was Leonard Cohen’s third poetry collection. Dark and surreal, its poems confront the Holocaust and political turmoil, showing a sharper, less romantic side of his writing.
Visit while in Montreal: Leonard Cohen's House and Bagel Etc. His former residence is in the heart of the Plateau at 28 rue de Vallières, then head to nearby Bagel Etc. at 4320 boulevard Saint-Laurent, where he was a regular, often sitting at the counter with his usual breakfast of "powerful espresso and more espresso," recalled the cafe's owner. The triplex is a private residence, so enjoy the connection from the sidewalk.
