First aired in 1989 as The Seinfeld Chronicles, the sitcom began with a pilot that didn’t include Elaine, and Kramer was called Kessler. Jerry Seinfeld and Larry David built the show’s comedy from everyday irritations and small social absurdities, earning it the nickname “a show about nothing.” By its 1998 finale, 76.3 million viewers tuned in to say goodbye to Jerry, George, Elaine and Kramer.

Visit while in New York City: Tom’s Restaurant at 2880 Broadway. This restaurant boasts the real-life exterior of Monk’s Café, where Jerry and the gang met for endless cups of coffee. The show’s diner interior was filmed on a studio set.

Coney Island Baby by Lou Reed. Vintage Vinyl, 12" in cardboard sleeve. Tested, very good playback quality. Released in 1976, Coney Island Baby was a striking change of direction after Lou Reed’s abrasive, largely wordless Metal Machine Music. Here, he turns toward melody and warmth: the title song is an autobiographical love song, often read as a tribute to his partner Rachel Humphreys. Visit while in New York City: Max’s Kansas City. This former downtown artists’ hangout and nightclub was located at 213 Park Avenue South, near Union Square. The Velvet Underground played their final show with Lou Reed there in 1970; a recording from the club was later released as Live at Max’s Kansas City. The club closed in 1981, and the address is now a deli.
